The answer has always been yes but the comfort and stability of that setup depended on how you were rigging it, and not everyone was happy with their improvised solutions. We heard you.

What the IPS J-Arm Is
The J-Arm is a helmet bridge-style mounting arm the same general concept that's driven military night vision helmet mounting for decades, adapted for the Tevin Sentinel S2's form factor. It positions the unit in front of one eye on an adjustable arm that swings down when you need it and up and out of the way when you don't.
The IPS Integrated Positioning System is the interface component that holds the Tevin Sentinel S2 in the correct position relative to your eye and makes extended use comfortable. This is the piece that matters more than most people initially realize.
Here's why: when you're running a compact thermal device in a handheld configuration, you're holding it away from your eye and scanning. But when it's helmet-mounted and you're walking your property, moving through the dark, navigating a fence line or a treeline, the device is positioned right in front of your eye for extended periods. Compatible Helmet Platforms
The IPS J-Arm system is designed to work with the standard NVG mount interface found on the majority of modern tactical bump helmets and ballistic helmets. If your helmet has a front-mounted NVG bracket the style found on Ops-Core, Team Wendy EXFIL, and similar platforms you're likely looking at a compatible interface.

How to Run Helmet-Mounted Thermal the Right Way
This is where I want to spend some time, because I see people set up helmet-mounted thermal and immediately wonder why the image looks the way it does or why they're not getting the range they expected. The answer is almost always one of two things: brightness settings and eye position.
Brightness is the most important setting to get right. And the answer is counterintuitive until you understand why.
When you're using the Tevin Sentinel S2 handheld or mounted on a firearm at arm's length from your eye, higher brightness settings give you a rich, easy-to-read image with good contrast. That's fine. The unit is far from your eye.
When the IPS J-Arm positions the device directly in front of your eye, the dynamics change. You need to turn the brightness all the way down to the lowest setting. Not medium. Not one click down from max. All the way down.
Here's why: at close eye distance, even a moderate brightness setting is putting significant visible light directly into your eye in the dark. Your eyes adapt to darkness over time it takes about 20-30 minutes for full dark adaptation and a bright display right in front of your eye will wreck that adaptation immediately. More importantly, at the lowest brightness setting and at direct eye distance, you're actually getting a better, more detailed image than you'd expect because your eye is processing the full resolution of the display rather than being overwhelmed by brightness.
Try it once and you'll never go back to running it bright. It's one of those adjustments that feels wrong until you do it, and then it becomes automatic.
Eye position matters. The IPS interface is designed to position the Tevin Sentinel S2 at the correct eye distance and center it properly. Let it do its job. Resist the urge to shift the unit or tilt it to "see better." If the image doesn't look right, check your brightness setting first, then check that the IPS interface is actually seated correctly and the J-Arm is adjusted to bring the device to center.
What You're Able to Do with It
Let me paint a practical picture of what helmet-mounted thermal actually gives you.
It's 1:30 AM. Your livestock guardian dogs are going. You don't know if it's a coyote at the far end of the pasture, a pair of hogs working the feed area, or someone who shouldn't be on your property. You've got terrain to cover to get eyes on the situation, and you need your hands free.
With the Tevin Sentinel S2 on the IPS J-Arm, you step outside and swing the unit down. You're walking not holding a device, not trying to glass while you move, not sweeping a flashlight and announcing your position. Your hands are free. If you're carrying a firearm, you can run it properly. If you're carrying a light, it's in your hand rather than pinned between your shoulder and cheek while you try to see through a monocular.
The Tevin Sentinel S2's three power magnification gives you enough reach to identify targets at real distances while you're moving. The four color palettes let you dial in whatever gives you the clearest read on the environment — cold ground, warm animals, and everything in between. And because the unit is sub-five ounces, you're not wearing something that shifts your helmet's balance point or gives you neck fatigue on an extended walk.
When you close to distance and want to take action with a firearm, the J-Arm swings up and out of your way in a single motion. You're back on your primary optic with both eyes. The thermal has done its job.
That's the workflow. It's clean, it's practical, and it's the kind of capability that used to require either military-issue equipment or a private security budget.
Who This Setup Is For
I'll be direct about this: the IPS J-Arm and helmet-mounted thermal generally is not for everyone.
If your use case is primarily hunting glassing for predators from a fixed or semi-fixed position before making a shot handheld or weapon-mounted thermal is almost always the better answer. You've got a stable position, you can bring the device to your eye comfortably, and the weight savings of not running a helmet at all is a real benefit in a hunting context.
The helmet-mounted setup earns its place when you need mobility and hands-free capability. Property security patrols. Livestock checks in the dark when you're navigating fencing, gates, and rough terrain. Extended night surveillance from a fixed position where you'd rather have your hands free for other tools. Tactical applications where two-handed weapon handling is a requirement, not an option.
